Lansdowne Achieves MAI Designation

October 1, 2015 – Bill Lansdowne of The Simmons Company has been awarded the Appraisal Institute’s prestigious MAI membership designation, which is held by appraisers who are experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions.

By earning the MAI designation, Lansdowne has joined an elite group of appraisers who have met rigorous professional requirements relating to education, testing, experience and demonstration of knowledge, understanding, and ability.

Current requirements an appraiser must fulfill to receive the MAI designation are: complete 380 hours of classroom instruction, pass a four-module, two-day comprehensive exam, hold an undergraduate degree from a four-year accredited educational institution, receive credit for 6,000 hours of experience, including 3,000 hours of specialized appraisal experience, all of which must meet strict criteria, and finally receive credit for a demonstration appraisal report.
